St. George's Day

On Sunday the 22nd April, we went on a very rainy parade around Banbury to mark St George's Day. The parade happens annually, and involves Scouts, Guides, members of the Fire Service and the British Legion, among others. We marched around town carrying the Unit flag and eventually went into the church for a special service. Afterwards we all made our way to McDonald's for ice cream sundaes!

Switzerland 2002

In August 2002, we're teaming up with the local Ranger unit for our first ever trip abroad- to Our Chalet in Switzerland! We're going for about ten days, during which we can go bowling, ice skating, walking, swimming, toboganning, cycling, trips to the cheese makers', rides on the cable car and many other things.

been there, done that......

Global Footsteps

On Saturday the 24th of February, we headed down to Crystal Palace with hundreds of other Guides for a Thinking Day celebration. We did crafts such as lantern making, line dancing and many other things and the whole day finished off with a big carnival, banners we'd made, dancing and singing.
Oxford Gangshow

On Saturday the 17th of March we went to the Gangshow in Oxford. This is an annual show at the Apollo Theatre with sketches, songs and dances performed by Scouts, Guides, Brownies, Cubs and Leaders. It was very entertaining and we all enjoyed it a lot.
Guide Camp

We go camping every year, and this year we went to Gloucestershire for a week. We had great fun doing all sorts of activites like archery, grass sledging, pistol shooting, night hikes, bowling, a low ropes team course, and a day out shopping and to the sports centre. Everyone enjoyed it and had a great laugh. Big thankyous to all the Guiders!

Remembrance Sunday
The Guides joined with the British Legion, Fire Service and other Scouting and Guiding orgnisations to take part in the annual parade with the flag through Hook Norton. Luckily, the weather was not too bad, and there was a good turnout. Afterwards we attended the moving service for Remembrance Sunday at the church.
Youth Hostelling
From the 23rd to the 25th of November, the Guides were away youth hostelling near Milton Keynes. We went out to see the Harry Potter film, went round the shopping centre, had a Christmas dinner, did crafts, played games and worked on badges. Everyone had a really great time. We also joined up with the 2nd Bloxham Guides, who have just started as a unit.
Other things we've done recently include a 70s disco and a music workshop...and we've got a Christmas party coming up soon!
